My interest in feltmaking began after I stumbled upon an exhibition in a small town in the west of Ireland. I was mesmerised. I couldn't believe that such a basic raw material as the wool off a sheep's back could be transformed by water, soap and elbow grease into a million different things, from a delicate corsage or necklace to a sturdy bag or rug.
Over the next few years I learned as much as I could and studied with expert feltmakers. I bored friends and family and created a lot of mess around the house, but I was hooked.
I use mostly dyed merino wool, which is very versatile, occasionally combining with tussah silk to add a luxurious quality to scarves, bowls - even beads. I love using buttons and beads (both new and recycled), silver-plated findings and unusual fibres such as hemp thread to create eye-catching and unique pieces.
I can also create necklaces, bracelets, scarves and bowls to order; if you are interested in commissioning me or would like to be added to the mailing list, please get in touch using the contact form below.
